*yawn* another vacation, done and gone

...yeah its like the last day i have before i go back to BU. I think i'll be using it to clean up and pack back up. Oh, and I have to return more videos to Blockbuster, and look diligently for my cell phone (which is still among the lost) and i may just have to get to sleep early so that i can wake up to leave at like 7 am. Apparently my mom's going to bring me back directly after dropping my sister off at school. this is because my mom has to go to work at 2pm and so we have to get going quite early.
Saw Bran-Bran last night which was great, because i hadn't seen him since, well, last summer. We watched "just friends" which was a pretty funny movie and he practically made a sales pitch for the "devil may cry" games. apparently i'm going to HAVE to buy those eventuallly lol. Maybe not, but it was fun to watch.
Anyway, I've been craving peanut butter all week, and I FINALLY bought myself a jar (all to myself!... or so i had thought) but apparently either my mom, sister or father (or all 3 of them) decided to infringe on my personal jar that is supposed to be coming back with me to boston. *grr* but yea, i had seen a peanut butter tatse test on good morning america one morning this week and sadly, it made me want peanut butter sooooooo badly and all week my mom didn't buy more (we were so out of it) and finally last night i went out and bought some as well as a small jug of milk. No one invades my personal stash and gets away with it.. *grrrr*
I am all applied and set to URI, RIC and MassArt. However, Not one of them has accepted/rejected me as of yet, so i think its going to be a while. oh, and its 3pm already, so i dont think my freaking camera is even gonna come today like they PROMISED it would. WTF now i'm going to have to go back to BU without it and have my parents ship it to me when (and if) they eventually find it on the doorstep. WTF Is up with these people? i would have been better off with the shitty one i bought at best buy and returned. >_<

~kristin~

ps
for those of you who dont know, my hair is *dun dun dun* no longer pink! * cries *

my social life ALWAYS shows up at the end of break....

went to lunch with mike today, that was pretty awesome. We caught up and exchanged stories of strange professors and told stories from high school and it was a really great time overall. we went to the mai tai, a resturaunt on freaking tiogue ave that i didn't know existed. how thats possible in coventry, i'm not sure, but i accomplished it, and mike surprised me by bringing me somewhere i'd never been haha.
Also a great thing because i hadn't had chinese in oh about a month. god i missed it :-D
Uri has not yet replied to my application, neither has RIC or Massart, i'm getting kinda anxious, but my mom keeps insisting i must hav ebeen accepted to massart because i have an id # in all the mail they send me. i hate to tell her, but thats my application number lol.
and my digital camera STILL has not come in. why?
i almost started to burst into a reverie of billy joel when i read on the tracking site that it was in allentown PA right now. heehee, but i was too upset that it wasn't on my doorstep.
Oh, so funny story, i wake up around 11 to find my mom has bought an elliptical machine. not only is there no room in the house for this thing, i know by looking at my father that it will never get used. ever. except perhaps by my mother and i who seem to go on on and off binges of excersize, and my sisters more of the go outdoors and take a walk for excersize type. so what the hell? heehee i'm just bitter because she decided we should bring it upstairs. UPSTAIRS. So, we carried this heavy heavy heavy monstrosity upstairs in its box and i looked into her room and could tell with one glance that it would NEVER fit in her room. there's simply no where to put it where it would be useable...and i did all that dragging of it up the stairs. wtf? oh well once its put together i can excersize on it and i'llbe all proud of myself. but for now, its just that large pile of pieces littering my parents' bed. oh man is my dad going to bitch whenhe can't lay down................*oh the humanity!*
well its about timei tookout my contacts. they're giving me a massive headache and the only thing that will solve that is removing my contacts and perhaps taking some advil. overall, however, not a bad day. i have 7 dollars to my name. 0_o ah the life of a poor college student.
~Kristin~

i'm watching "say anything"
i'm already guaranteed to love it because it started with a preview that said "coming the christmas of 1989". Gawd i love the 80's!
Ha there's actually an old simpsons short at the beginning of this movie. WTF? Ha its so oooooooold! (in justines words)

Oh so i felt really crappy last night. The remnants of those bad feelings remain with me but thats ok, cause i'm feeling a little better. a little ;-)
Going out clubbing with Dan and Maria and perhaps others tomorrow night, that sounds fun, most likely will take my mind of things... and stuff.
Oh and I thiiiiiink I am going to URI, we'll see. I've applied and I may have a possible roommate secured haha :-D it sounds amazing.
Well Time to watch say anything, more later dudes and dudettes :-)

By the time i called her back, she was 5 minutes away. cut to me running up to my bedroom and throwing stuff into my laundry bag/ my suitcase. it was a moment of being caught totally off guard so i ended up forgetting a few things there that i wanted to take with me. But thats ok, b/c i brought all i really needed.
so now my digital camera(which hadnt come in yet) is on its way to my house (very slowly) instead of my dorm. not because i decided i wanted it this week, but because i checked and realized instead of having them send it to autumn ridge rd in coventry or commonwealth ave in boston, i had them send it to commonwealth ave in coventry hahaha. which, in case you didn't know it, does not exist. and apparently my camera was sent out to the distribution center in ri, then they realized there was no comm ave coventry, so they sent it back to the company. UGH. sooooo i called the company and had them send it to the billing address. autumn Ridge rd COVENTRY. god damn i hope it comes in before i leave for boston. hahaha suddenly online shopping has pissed me off slightly.

So i'm watching south park, my sister and father are out learning to drive... well my sister's learning. my dad's teaching. i'm so hungry/tired/thirsty.

"is he... that scary afro-painter guy?"

So skeevy kid strikes again. lol for those of you who don't know, he's one of those ardent "i'm going to do whatever everyone else detests"-ists. LOL, so naturally the minute we introduce TAO, he raises his hand in the "i dont care so only two of my fingers are extended" style that he does and he goes "Am i correct in assuming that Tao is anti-institutions?" *FaceHand*

Speaking of Skeevy Kid...
*During a discussion in class about Tao and painting...*
Prof D'Onof: I know an example, you guys remember that dude who painted happy trees?
Skeevy Kid: Um, are you referring to that scary afro-painter guy on tv??
Prof D'Onof: yeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah that guy was toooooooooootally tao... he was so relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxed and so mellooooooooooooooooowwwwwww, you didn't know what he was smoooooooooooooooooooking....... *short sigh*
HAHA I LOVE THAT CLASS.

So anyway, speaking of tao, i've decided that its a perfectly reasonable way of life. in fact, it sort of encompasses my attitude. The whole "go with the flow" mentality and all the "just do, dont worry if you fail, just flow around the obstacles as water would in a stream" its a great concept. I think its a good philosophy, one i will try to follow more closely.(Plus, it would explain away the fact that i'm so unphased when it comes to doing homework and getting good grades lol.) Yeah, the next time i get a bad grade, i will tell my parents "hey, be more tao about it guys, like me!"

aaaaaand Today my Southpark season2 FINALLY came in the mail. Tomorrow, I'm hoping my Digital Camera will come in. Anyone hear any bad press about the Olympus Camedia? because i dont think i could handle having to return ANOTHER freaking digital camera. I just want it so i can start using it! *Le Sigh* At least I'll hopefully have it for Spring Break, Take pics at all the social events i attend (aka a couple of movie nights at the houses of one of the fearsome foursome) lol. So yeah, everyone, I will be home from this friday morning all the way until the next sunday as far as i'm aware.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAand today Carolyn and i got to go and try Socom 3 at a special party at BU. We got free merchandise, so i have 2 Socom 3 Tees and 2 Socom 3 dogtags. OH and i have a sticker. SO THERE. LOL. So yeah, i've played socom 3 and its cool. The girl to guy ratio was surprisingly equal, though very few people came to the actual event. it was like 6 girls and 6 guys, if that. GAWD i love being a girl gamer. Which reminds me, if i had money i'd totally be in the market to check out a new ps2 game. Since i've been playing the same stuff so often. DUDE I NEED NEW GAMES, BUY THEM FOR ME! lol j/k

oh and carolyn uses the phrase ipso facto. Ipso facto, she is the best person alive. HA.

~Kristin~

SALE! EVERYTHING MUST GO!

anyone want an ipod mini? its BRAND NEW. Like, i sent mine in for service and they replaced it for free. It comes complete with earbuds and a firewire/USB cable as well as a belt clip thingie. however, i have my toshiba mp3 player now, so if you want an ipod mini, please for god sake let me know! thinking of charging about $175 for it, i just dont want to have to do this over ebay so i'm hoping someone will want it, that way i can make the exchange in person. So yeah, if you're in the market for a good 4 GB Ipod Mini, by all means let me know!

Now that that plug is out of the way, i have decided that carbon dating is a plague on our society. You know why? Because i Spent like 4+ hours over the course of yesterday trying to figure out these carbon dating problems for science class. in fact, pretty soon i should get cracking on those so maybe i can finish them before class in about an hour and 20 minutes... oh well. This assignment also marked the return of logarithms to my life which is always an ordeal in and of itself. GRR.

Hm. For tomorrow i have to have read confucious, studied for my major science midterm, translated one point five readings in my spanish book, and insert sleep into the equation... somewhere.

Also, i was just observing my laptop and my keyboard seems to be absolutely coated in dust and debris. I wonder how to remedy this without using water... dont want to ruin the brand new laptop!

Oh and turns out I'm not coming home this weekend, i have too much to do, including a mandatory meeting of my study group for psych before our big test on tuesday. Ah well, I'll see heather some other time :-(
Will now go play with MySpace... haven't touched it in a while and its about time i actually worked on it... you know, instead of my science problems lol.

~Kristin~

and even you cannot avoid, pressure

Hm. I have a million little bits of homework to do, and one huge hunk of studying to do for my midterm in science on thursday. (dreading it) i figure, i can do my science hw tonight, as well as reading a little confucious perhaps? then go to bed early, wake up semi early, do my spanish, go to psych discussion, take a quiz i'll most likely fail, do more spanish when i get back, go to science discussion where i'll pass in said hw, and review for the exam, come home, and review like hell for exam, wake up next morning and review for exam during psychology, and when i get back home, review some more, then go to spanish... where i'll try and review between actually learning spanish... and then death and destruction in the form of said exam. >_< Yikes!

after thursday its home for friday at least to see heather and possibly take her out for dinner, then back up here to enjoy the weekend. Then one more week of classes (which for me means 3 days of classes, then i'm back home for spring break. What will I do for spring break? probably chill the fuck out, other than that i'm not sure. i know ashlee will be home during my spring break, who else will be? the world may never know.

its sad because i'd have someone from BU come visit my wonderful home state but i dont think i've made any close enough friends for that... and those that are technically close enough have boyfriends that they can't detach themselves from if they tried. therefor, i think its just being home to enjoy the company of my family and puppy. basically i'll be home to chauffer my sister to school and back. and do errands and clean.

GOD i hope i get into MassArt!!! I can't wait til they reply.. if they tell me I didn't get into housing though, I may be a little relieved, I mean, if I could get my parents to spring for the first few months rent of an apartment (perhaps with a roomie to help pay the bills) i could get a job in the area and not have to worry about having to leave housing and go home for the summer or anything, and could make it a steady job! One thing however is certain: no matter what i need to be making money, because this year i learned the limitations of my parents' wallets as well as my own without my having a job.

Perhaps, just perhaps, by the time spring break comes i'll learn of MassArt's decision. If they say no I swear I will cry. Especially since i really have no backups. I guess if they say no, its URI by default, and then what'd I do? Their photo program is said to suck. As does RIC's. *Le Sigh* I better get into MassArt then, otherwise I'm up shit creek without a paddle... and there's no way I want to leave Boston, its so nice up here, and there's so much to do (though i dont often do it). Last but not least, if I leave Boston I will have left both Karen and Ashlee, and that would be sad... I love being in the same city as they are, and if I go to MassArt, I'll be schooling/living right down the street from Ashlee!

Oh well. I do believe I am in desperate need of dinner, and of course it is a boyfriend who has once again foiled my having a dinner companion. Therefor I must away, before I waste away to nothingness. Maybe Confucious will keep me company at dinner.

Strike A Pose!

So I spent today photoshooting at Tufts! I had a great time, and everyone was fun fun fun to hang out with :-D
Of course, I feel really bad because a couple of them didn't like how they looked in the pictures... although i thought they looked wonderful. :-( I really don't know what to say. Ok so you win some you lose some i suppose. But I guess you can judge for yourselves, the new facebook album "Tufts Photoshoot". Sorry Laura/Gabe...
I saw Meet Joe Black on TV today, I haven't seen that movie in so long and had forgotten how wonderful it was! And teh cute guy at CVS complimented my hair, he said it was great, and asked if I had ever seen "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and that it reminded him of that movie. Teehee!
Its so effin cold today, I spent a good portion of it outside too... *brrrrrrr* Tomorrow I plan on staying inside unless something extremely exciting or fun presents itself, because i am a sensitive delicate little flower who needs to keep warm in her over heated dorm room ;-)
Plus i do have a lot of homework to do, I suppose staying in could be a very good idea for me.
And btw, I've sent all my stuff into MassArt, all i have to do now is wait for a result... God am I nervous. I am so nervous that its not even funny. *WISH ME LUCK!*

~Kristin~

OK, so V-day isn't soooo bad, but thats just because just now a certain boy told me my hair looked amazing :-) nothing like a small (most likely meaningless but nonetheless mood boosting) compliment from a cute boy to make you more perky :-D

~Kristin~

ew... valentines day. someone make it a good day... please??

nope. class from 12-5 straight, whilst watching happy girlfriends get pretty lacy things and the chocolate that rightfully should be going to me, to keep my hormones in check. Unless someone decides to include me in this holiday, i'm going into a temporary stage of hibernation... since i have to go to class its only a metaphorical hibernation, but i'm still going to withdraw from the human race for... just a little while. See you in about a week >_> <_<

So yeah, mike s and i spent like 2 hours last night playing effing battleship online lol. my friends and i are AWESOME. ^_^ we also played some "reversi" which i am now proud to say iknow how to play. lol, yay for yahoo games.

i have FOUR letters of recommendation on their way to MassArt, thats PERFECT. Now i just need to send my stuff in, which is all done, except i'm having some technical difficulties relating to getting my portfolio pictures onto my burnable cd. somehow paint shop pro has commandeered all of my images and turned them into "paint shop pro images" so that they dont run unless they're on my computer.

I will persevere!

lol

Well i should get to doing some work. What most people are doing on sundays (procrastinating) i do on mondays now... big difference this schedule has made for me eh?

~kristin

so if you want to see my sort of pink hair, check out my facebook, my pic is new :-) of course, i'm dying it pinker, because that pink wasn't pink enough for me. just a matter of waiting for the new dye to come in the mail.

blizzard today, i know i'm a scrooge but i hate snow lol. watching 10 things i hate about you, a wonderful movie. also watched "not another teen movie" which was surprisingly good, lol, i loved being able to point out stuff from like every teen movie i'd seen in my middleschool/early high school years lol. as well as some i'd seen recently like bits from Cruel intentions. and the cameo molly ringwald made was pretty fucking hilarious because she explained all the stuff that was wrong with the teen movies that were spoofed. lol

i got my piccies of noah and posted them on facebook, and the pics noah and carolyn and i took later on in the night are posted on carolyn's facebook, i'll probably steal them and post them on mine too. :-D
the three of us are just way too sexy for words lol.

~kristin~

ps
thanks for all the feedback on the essay, my forte is photography, not writing lol and you guys are awesome <3 <3

read my college essay... please?

If you fancy yourself a knowledgeable essay writer, please read this and tell me what you think. its the rough rough rough draft of my essay for MassArt. There only guideline was that the essay be around 500 words. they said write about anything, and i thought this was appropriate. Please tell me what you think and dont sugarcoat it... i have to fix it up before tuesday and send it in...

“Strike a pose!” is what I yell to Carolyn as she stands poised shakily on the railroad tracks. I am an amateur photographer, and Carolyn Garcia, for the moment, is my subject. The images of Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Sarah Jessica Parker flashing through my mind from an incomparable stack of Vogue issues back in my dorm are my inspiration as I continue hitting the shutter button. My mother’s camera, a relic from the 1970’s hangs from my neck on a strap that bears the camera’s name: Canon AE-1. It is with this camera that I discovered my love for manual photography, and it is since that discovery that I stole the camera away from its home in my mom’s closet and brought it with me to the dormitories of Boston University.
Carolyn stands on the tracks, jokes inspired by her paranoia of being hit by the T as she stands there coming from her pouted lips between poses. I reassure her that if the train comes I would most definitely throw myself into saving her life, but for now I tell her to get over it and put on her “Vogue face”. Hair draped across her face, hands on her hips and a come-hither gaze on her face, she stumbles upon the perfect look, so I snap a picture. Carolyn is concerned about how embarassing the pout she just put on would look in a picture. I tell her there’s nothing to worry about, I’ve done this before. I click one more picture before the winding lever gives me that all too familiar resistance. I sigh and start cranking the rewind handle until I hear the plastic noise of the film jerking off the spool. I open the back of the camera and drop the small black and white film canister into the palm of my gloved hand. The photo shoot was over, sadly, but the most exciting part was yet to come.
Back when I had taken photography in high school I had the opportunity to develop my own black and white photgraphs, but since then a darkroom was not available to me. This meant only one thing: I would have to settle for CVS. It was a mere twenty degrees outside, and I had a good mile to walk to get to the closest CVS but in my hand I held a canister full of photographs I just couldn’t wait to see. It was like I was holding thirty-six exciting secrets but I couldn’t get to them. All I wanted was for the glorious secrets to be revealed to me… would they be as glorious as I was hoping? Or was all my trepidation for naught? Only one hour of photo processing was between me and finding out, so I dropped the canister on the counter and left it in the hands of the all-but-able people at the pharmacy’s photo lab.
One hour later I held in my hand an envelope, which I could barely wait to open. When I did, however, I saw that it was worth the wait. This was the feeling I lived for, the feeling I got as I flipped from photograph to photograph, admiring each and every detail brought out in vivid contrast. In only two colors I was able to reveal Carolyn’s beauty, her personality and her style and flaunt it with the artistic flair of a real fashion photographer. I can’t see my future career being anything else. Ten or fifteen years from now I hope to be doing the same thing, but doing it at a desk in the offices of a prominent fashion magazine piled with magazines whose cover photos are the product of my hard work and creativity. If this future is to come to fruition, I have to hope that next year, I will spend my days at the Massachusetts College of Art, working on my craft. Only then can I be the photographer I’ve always wanted to become.

Read it, tear it apart, comment. You think they'll like it?

You know you went to Coventry Schools when...

They made a list on myspace of these, but since 90% of the people at our school were total doinks the list is mainly incoherent and all about stuff that the druggies liked... so here's my version of the list, taking a few choice items i agreed with, but mostly my own list :-)

1. Seeing chickens from a local farm or eels from Johnsons pond means that the end of the year is close and the Seniors are pulling their annual prank.
2. When you hear about something sharp being thrown, a speaker being gouged through with a screwdriver, or wheels being hammered off a chair, you think only one name: Murray, yet he's still the coolest fucking guy in the school :-)
3. You know that Mr. Szympkowicz knows EVERYTHING, but not about history like his status as a history teacher infers, he knows the ins and outs of every relationship in the student body.
4. You also know Szympkowicz has a metal plate in his head and you've heard all of the theories of why this is.
5. You've psychologically tortured Mr. Knutton just for the hell of it.
6. You know that being in an AP class doesn't mean the pot smokers decrease, their ability to hide it does.
7. You remember Rusty releasing 99 red balloons in his senior year and falling on his ass, smashing his windshield.
8. You have discussed an unfortunate incident relating to a large piece of fecal matter on the stage in the auditorium...
9. When you hear Brissette say the words "Adapt Adjust Improvise" it no longer succeeds in instilling fear in you.
10. You are totally aware of, yet unphased by, the fact that Brissett cheats openly and intesnsely during spirit week.
11. You've witnessed just about every male teacher in the school hitting on Mrs. Macomber, married or unmarried.
12. You love Ms. Allard for the petulant child of the art department that she is.
13. You have left school during the day against the rules to get Ms. Allard her afternoon iced coffee.
14. You know that every winning science fair project has two backboards and a monitor of some kind.
15. You remember the wonder that is the science fair project about the pet squirrel that was written in crayon.
16. Some years you've had more than 7 teachers for one class in one year.
17. You know that all hippy science teachers like Mrs Steele name their children Teal and Allegra-Kai.
18. You have a senior T-shirt that lists only half of your class's names.
19. You have made friends with someone who owns a car merely because you need somewhere to warm up when there's a firedrill during the winter.
20. Your senior prom's theme was "Beautiful Greenhouse" until about a week before the event.

thats all i have for now, comment with more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! make the list groooooooooooooow

so anyways

~kristin~

Amelia Lyon is frighteningly skilled...

...ha last night she guessed what was going on in my head COMPLETELY by ACCIDENT. That's right, we've lived together so long we can read each other's minds!

Ha anyway, last night was cool, watched a bunch of South Park while getting a TON of college application stuff done. I'm proud of myself. Just like, an essay left, as well as making sure my letters of recommendation get written and sent out on time. We'll see about that one. lol i hate being a procrastinator. Will came up and he Amelia and I watched South Park, the episode was awesome (Marjorine!). I love how butters as a girl equals margarine, (pronounced mar-jah-reen) lol. And butters faking his own death was the funniest thing ever, he gets up to the top of the building and in his sweet innocent little voice he's all like "i'm gonna do it, you hear? i'm gonna jump...oh hi mom! *waves*" lol. Then he throws a pig, dressed in his blue shirt, off the roof and it explodes on impact. A doctor walks over to whats left of the splattered corpse, picks up a string of intestine, feels it as if looking for a pulse, and says "...he didn't make it" ROFL. I love South Park.

Anyways, today I am Soooooooo tired. I need to finish up all this college application junk quickly because its all due by the 15th! aaaa! Hopefully my 3 letters of recommendation get sent. >_> *scared*

Almost time for Spanish Class with Senora Huerta. Haven't decided whether she was better or Calvano was. Tough decision let me tell you.

~Kristin~
